CAMPBELL’S BREWERY ENLARGES PORTFOLIO WITH CRAFT LAGER

The introduction of a new craft lager has led to a record-breaking summer for independent Borders brewery Campbell’s Brewery, with sales rocketing by 50%.

Shaygër has become a permanent addition to Campbell’s range on the back of a successful trial, driving 20+ listings over a two-month period, and joins flagship ale Gunner Blonde Ale and White Tail IPA - initially a Limited Edition brew for Wetherspoon’s – in the core line-up.

Shaygër (4.5%) is a fine craft larger, well balanced between blonde malt and fresh hop flavours. With light carbonation you’ll find this borders brew will have more body and character than a standard larger but be every bit as much the thirst quencher.

Appearance  Pale gold in colour

Aroma          Light earthy aroma with a hint of grapefruit

Taste             Smooth, crisp with gentle hop bitterness

Malts             Mungoswells lager and wheat malts

Hops             Admiral, Celeia, Sovereign, Goldings

Murray Campbell, founder of Campbell’s Brewery, said: “Lager has always been the kingpin of the beer market by volume but has been in decline for years. It’s all change now though with craft lager giving the category the shot in the arm it needs. We’ve had an incredible response to Shaygër showing there’s clearly a demand for well-made, well-priced artisan lager.”

Campbell’s Brewery’s eight-barrel brewhouse in Peebles has been operational since February 2017, masterminded and funded by Campbell. The brewery has over 150 on-trade stockists including Melville Castle, Edinburgh University, The Sheraton Hotel, the Wally Dug and Montpeliers.
