ROBOTICAL UNVEILS LATEST MODEL OF ITS CHARACTERFUL STEM ROBOT
The friendly little robot that has helped bring STEM learning to life for thousands of children is set to be an even bigger hit in the classroom as Marty the Robot makers Robotical unveiled their latest V2 model.
When Marty V1 was introduced by the Edinburgh-based EdTech firm in 2016, its human-like appearance, expressive face and fun moves helped put the cool into school work - able to walk, balance on one leg, sidestep, turn and kick Marty was the most high-tech humanoid robot for its price.
While Marty V2 (£299 ex VAT) is the same colourful character that kids love, Robotical has upped the spec to include USB and Bluetooth connectivity; obstacle, noise and colour sensors, a built-in speaker, position and force sensing motors and even more LED light panels. Standing proud at 24cm tall and weighing in at 650g, Marty V2 is a tougher wee unit than its predecessor to better withstand the rigours of school life thanks to new metal-geared motors and robust moulded plastic parts.
A STEM class-in-a-box solution, each Marty comes with a suite of teaching resources for the planning and delivery of fun and interactive STEM activities that follow both the National Curriculum and Curriculum for Excellence and meet benchmarks for learning. Robotical offers plenty of support to help teachers get the most out of the materials from live video calls and teacher training, to blog content, FAQs, user guides and tutorials.
Try before you buy – Robotical will loan Marty to schools for a two-week trial.
