WILLIAM KERR’S BORDERS GIN GOES NAVY STRENGTH WITH LIMITED EDITION

The Borders Distillery has dialled up the potency of its award-winning William Kerr’s Borders Gin with the release of Kerr’s Navy Strength Gin (57.1% ABV).  Higher strength for a fuller, more concentrated flavour, this overproof gin has been distilled using Scottish Borders barley sourced from local farmers, all situated within 33 miles of the distillery, and branded in a uniquely paperless bottle using state-of-the-art printing technology.

Produced in a limited run of 2,022 bottles, Kerr’s Navy Strength Gin is the first in a series of experimental releases by The Borders Distillery.

Kerr’s special malt barley spirit base, distilled from a specially-commissioned Carterhead still, lends Kerr’s Navy Strength Gin a distinctive full and rounded character with bright juniper and citrus notes on the nose and a spicy hint of liquorice in its finish.

Less is more as John Fordyce encourages when it comes to enjoying this heady gin. “There is much greater intensity of flavour with the higher ABV,” he said, “which means you only need a small measure to get the same impact. And with this gin, the impact really is in the distinctive and delicious mouth-filling taste and texture that comes from our own spirit and the distillation process, which effectively extracts over steam all the wonderful nuances of flavours from the botanicals.”

Kerr’s Navy Strength Gin complements TBD’s core range, which features Lower East Side and Clan Fraser blended whiskies, Puffing Billy Steam Vodka and Kerr’s Gin.  Both the vodka and gin were Gold medal winners at the 2021 Warsaw Spirits Competition.

Kerr’s Navy Strength Gin retails at £50.00 (70cl) and is available to purchase online at www.thebordersdistillery.com.
